New book GATEWAY TO THE ROMAN EMPIRE. ENTER! has just been released
This popular scientific and richly illustrated book invites readers to take an imaginary journey into the world of the ancient Roman Empire. At the beginning of this journey are the archaeological traces of the Roman legions on the territory of the present-day Czech Republic and results by generations of researchers from the Institute of Archaeology of the Czech Academy of Science in Brno. The centre of interest is the extraordinary location of Hradisko near Mušov, the most authentic Roman site in our territory, and its uniquely representative set of archaeological findings. Attractive photographs and accompanying texts familiarize the reader with the activity of the Roman legions in the south of Moravia, presenting their equipment, weapons, and everyday items. The publication vividly depicts an era from the territory of the Czech Republic that although short was extraordinarily historically significant. The book complements and develops the already existing relevant popularization platforms of the Czech Academy of Sciences, especially the Visitor Center Mušov – Gate to the Roman Empire, and can be considered a practical guide to the exhibition there.
